The Mesa String Quartet was formed by four high school musicians — Erin, Michael, Sailesh, and Simay — who met through high school orchestra and connected over their enthusiasm for music.
Through many rehearsals, we discovered our passion and talents for chamber music. What began as casual rehearsals turned into a dedication to creating beautiful music. Our development was shaped by guidance from private teachers and orchestra directors, with a focus on balance, blend, intonation, and musical communication. We received numerous coachings from Julie Henson, who played an instrumental role in helping refine our skills as musicians while learning to work as an ensemble.
As a quartet, we value each member’s ideas and perspectives and mirror those beliefs into the work we do. Our mission is to make chamber music more meaningful and accessible for the community — here in Ames, and beyond. With experience performing at local venues and events such as the Octagon Center for the Arts, Brunnier Art Museum, and Reiman Gardens, we would love to share our music and collaborate with organizations seeking a reliable and engaging string quartet experience.
